HIGH ST VS HIGH END #4

MAC Fix+ £15.50
MUA Pro-Base Fixing Mist £5.00
My face eats my makeup; I've often been asked if I'm wearing any foundation just four or five hours after application. So in comes the setting spray - think hairspray for your face but with no sticky feel or funny smell. A quick spritz not only fixes your look in place, but can also sort out an over-caked face and gives a subtle sheen to the skin. Today I'll be comparing MAC Fix+ with a drugstore dupe, MUA's pro-base fixing mist. Whilst I don't use setting spray every day, it's a great product for special events, when you want your makeup to really last. But is it worth splashing the cash on Fix+?
The Fix+ dispenses as a full on spray of product, meaning I have to hold it further from my face. It also feels wetter on the skin, meaning I have to wait longer for it to dry. It does have a really fresh, light scent, which I love. I spray this on before a night out, and it sets my makeup in place until the early hours, no matter how many embarrassing moves I throw on the dancefloor.

The MUA offering comes out as a lovely light mist, which feels very hydrating on the skin. In terms of lasting power I don't think this adds any longevity to my makeup, which is why I tend to use this to dewify my makeup. A spritz of this + beauty blender = dewy, fresh skin.

Verdict: Mac Fix+
Does anyone else love setting sprays?

  1. I was looking into getting one of these as my make up doesn't stay on my nose very well, may have to invest if it does actually work!

    1. Definitely get one; I used them over my makeup at Halloween too (a mix of face paint and normal makeup) and it worked really well! x
