A few nights ago I was invited to dine at The Picture House, a pop up restaurant created by Birds Eye. The idea was to sample dishes created using Birds Eye Inspirations chicken, fish or rice, and pay for your meal by uploading a picture of it to instagram. The whole night was really focused on social media, and it was nice not to be the only person instagramming my meal. They provided iPads we could post from, and everything tagged with #birdseyeinspirations was shown on big screens throughout the meal.
We were treated to a bag of bread, with balsamic vinegar and oil to dip it it, as well as house wine. For mains, I opted for the peri-peri chicken which was served on a bed of broccoli, asparagus and peas. My friends both had the lemon, rosemary and thyme fish which was served with roasted potatoes, tomatoes, shrimps and samphire, which I tried for the first time and loved! I had a bitter chocolate pot for dessert, served with blood orange sorbet. The sugared orange slice made a perfect photo subject!
I thought the idea was unique and a great way of getting people to try new products. The restaurant was colourful and intimate, with pine tables and fresh potted herbs adding a fresh 'foodie' feel. I really enjoyed my night and will definitely be picking up some items from the range on my next trip to the supermarket.
