OJON DAMAGE REVERSE RESTORATIVE HAIR TREATMENT PLUS

I've been using hair oil as a pre-wash treatment for years. Ever since I was a child, mum used to apply Vatika Hair Oil overnight and wash it out in the morning. It leaves hair soft, shiny and tangle-free after washing, and can prevent heat-damage. I still use the Vatika oil when I am at home, but due to their time-consuming nature I rarely use hair masks/ oils before my shower at university.

When I received a 50ml sample size Ojon Damage Reverse Restorative Hair Treatment Plus with my Ojon order I couldn't wait to try it. Having been a loyal fan of the Damage Reverse Shampoo and Conditioner for many months now, I was expecting great things from this product.

I haven't tried the original version of this product, but I have read reviews that the fragrance was similar to stale ashtrays. The fragrance of the Plus version is similar to the Shampoo and Conditioner, but a bit lighter and a little bit fruity. I don't find it offensive, but Ojon products do seem to have an odd smell, so if you're sensitive to the smell of a product then have a sniff before you buy.

When warmed between palms, the hard balm melts into an oil, which is easily worked through hair and left on for twenty minutes before washing. This claims to leave hair soft, silky and manageable. I usually leave mine on for at least an hour or two, and sometimes overnight. It is also designed to be activated by heat, so a gentle blast of low heat from your hairdryer should do the trick.

Having been using it for a few weeks, I can confirm it's left my hair 'soft, silky and manageable' but no more than using a cheaper oil such as the Vatika.. It was a lovely product to try out, but I won't be repurchasing, purely because at £16 it doesn't come cheap, and I don't feel it does any more for my hair than cheaper alternatives.

What drugstore hair/ masks oils can you recommend?
